Clever Storage Design in Modern Pickup Trucks

Our favorite example is the Rivian R1T. Not only does it have neat storage solutions inside such as a deep glovebox, large door pockets and under-seat storage, but it’s also got a clever party trick.

Its Gear Tunnel – that runs across the middle – is a unique storage compartment between the cab and the bed. 

This makes storing longer items such as skis and fishing rods so much easier. And no, don’t get any ideas… you can’t hide people in there (well, you totally can but you definitely shouldn’t).

But if you want something a little more functional, perhaps the Ford F-150’s Pro Power Onboard system will suit you? 

This system essentially turns your truck into a mobile generator. 

This is useful if you’re camping (added storage solution, sort of) and need up to 7.2kW of power to charge your phones, laptops etc.

Then there’s also the Honda Ridgeline that gets a lockable, weatherproof storage perfectly fitted in the bed for securing valuable items or keeping gear dry, effectively utilizing space that would otherwise be wasted. 

It also has a drain plug, making it ideal for use as a cooler for tailgating or family picnics.

There’s no denying we all could do with a little more storage space for anything we hoard, and pickup trucks are seemingly the way to do this. 

By integrating clever storage features, manufacturers are enhancing the practical utility of pickups, making them more adaptable to a wide range of professional and recreational activities.

 So what are you waiting for, get one… just don’t hide people in the Rivian, please.
