Ford has also redefined tailgate utility with the F-150's Tailgate Work Surface.
Manufacturers are constantly pushing the boundaries of design to enhance utility, convenience and style.
One of the most notable innovations is GMC’s MultiPro Tailgate.
It offers six distinct functions, including a primary gate, load stop, full-width step and inner gate for easier access to the bed.
It also features a work surface mode, transforming the tailgate into a convenient workstation. This multi-functionality enhances the truck’s versatility, catering to both work and leisure needs with ease.
Ford has also redefined tailgate utility with the F-150’s Tailgate Work Surface.
This design includes built-in rulers, a mobile device holder, cupholder and small item storage – it’s the full package.
The work surface is ideal for job sites and makes it easier to complete tasks directly from the tailgate. Additionally, the F-150 offers an integrated step and handle system, improving access to the truck bed.
The Ram 1500’s Multifunction Tailgate is another example of innovative design. It features a 60/40 split, allowing the tailgate to swing open like doors or drop down in the traditional manner.
This dual functionality provides easier access to the bed, especially when loading bulky items.
Honda’s Ridgeline introduces a unique approach with its In-Bed Trunk and Dual-Action Tailgate.
The tailgate can either swing open sideways or drop down conventionally, while the in-bed trunk offers secure, weatherproof storage beneath the bed floor.
This design maximizes storage options and enhances the truck’s overall practicality. Nice one, Honda.
By integrating multifunctional components, manufacturers like GMC, Ford, Ram and Honda are setting new standards in utility and convenience.
These advancements not only improve the user experience but also highlight the creative potential in pickup truck design, and we love that.
