The Rivian R1T has taken the electric truck scene by storm with its sleek looks and innovative features. But how does it translate from futuristic concept to everyday driving companion? We spoke with a Denver-based owner to get the inside scoop.

The Rivian R1T electric truck's stylish design turns heads

This electric truck isn't just about looks; it's a practical powerhouse.

The Good Stuff:

Storage Space Galore: This electric truck isn’t just about looks; it’s a practical powerhouse. Between the massive bed and the ingenious Gear Tunnel (think secret compartment for all your outdoor gear), the R1T swallows up cargo like a champ.

Solid Build Quality: Rivian may be a new player, but the R1T feels anything but. The owner was impressed by the high-quality materials and tight construction, a testament to Rivian’s commitment to building a premium vehicle.

Surprisingly Nimble: Those chunky 20-inch off-road tires might scream “rough ride,” but they surprised the owner with their quiet demeanor and surprising grip on winding roads. Confidence on any terrain, here you come!

The Not-So-Good Stuff:

Phone Connectivity Woes: This might be a dealbreaker for some tech-savvy drivers. The R1T currently lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it a struggle to seamlessly connect your phone for navigation and entertainment.

Bumpy Blues: The owner mentioned a “clanky” suspension over sharp bumps at lower speeds. While this might not be a major issue overall, it’s something to consider if a smooth ride is a top priority.

Wind Howls at High Speeds: Enjoy the peace and quiet of electric driving? Up to a point. The owner reported noticeable wind noise creeping in above 50 mph, which could be a bother on long highway trips.

The Talking Point:

“I’ve started to plan to arrive early to any public events/parking lots. I actually enjoy engaging with people and showing them around. But seriously, get to places early. I’d say 80% of the time if there are people around, they’ll want to talk to you and check out the truck.”

The Lowdown:

“Dollar for dollar, I can’t think of a better vehicle for my money. It’s everything it was supposed to be, and more. I love it.”
