"The stand-out feature it brings is the all-new ‘Launch Mode’ feature which is designed to optimize the vehicle’s throttle response for quicker acceleration, keeping it in line with the Tesla Cybertruck – it’s only real competitor"

This impressive new software update (known as 2024.31) aims to change the game for its R1S SUV, but most importantly, its R1T pickup truck.

The stand-out feature it brings is the all-new ‘Launch Mode’ feature which is designed to optimize the vehicle’s throttle response for quicker acceleration, keeping it in line with the Tesla Cybertruck – it’s only real competitor.

It also brings a redesign to the Energy app which provides a more intuitive and visually appealing layout to help monitor battery usage.

There’s also a few infotainment enhancements and various improvements to the vehicle’s user interface as part of the update, focusing on making the digital experience more user-friendly and visually attractive.

Plus, the update offers new customization options for the infotainment system, allowing drivers to personalize their in-cabin experience in any way they want.

Other important updates include:

  • Increased accuracy of traffic data and improve route color coding
  • New cabin fan speeds with three different options while the climate system is in Auto Mode
  • The cabin temperature limit for Pet Mode has been lowered to 63℉ and is controllable via the central display or Rivian app
  • Improved battery performance during aggressive driving at high exterior temperatures
  • While not in park, you can now use your phone’s Wi-Fi hot-spot
  • Improved reliability of the Gear Guard app
  • More efficiency when using defrost or defog modes
  • Improved accuracy of the estimated remaining charge time for an Active Climate Schedule
  • Stability improvements to the rear-view camera
  • Estimated charging costs now appear on the center and driver displays when you begin charging
